Nhat Le River and Nhat Le Bridge are popular tourist destinations in Dong Hoi City. When visiting Quang Binh, tourists not only enjoy the breathtaking beauty of the magnificent caves and pristine beaches but also indulge in the picturesque scenery of Nhat Le River and Nhat Le Bridge, which are situated in the heart of Dong Hoi City.
Nhat Le Bridge
Nhat Le Bridge is a 635-meter-long bridge that spans across the Nhat Le River, connecting Dong Hai ward with Bao Ninh commune. The bridge consists of 15 spans and has a 12-meter-wide deck. The navigable clearance of the bridge is 50 meters wide and 7 meters high. Construction of the bridge started in 2002 and it opened for traffic on August 17, 2004.
This is the second bridge that connects Dong Hoi city and Bao Ninh commune, following Quan Hau bridge (in Quang Ninh district, Quang Binh), which was completed in 2000. Nhat Le bridge holds significant importance in the socio-economic development, festivals, and tourism of Quang Binh province. It helps to connect traffic between Dong Hoi city and famous tourist areas such as Phong Nha - Ke Bang, Nhat Le beach, Bao Ninh beach, and more.
Nhat Le Bridge boasts a modern design and stunning artistic lighting system that sparkles at night. It is a popular destination for many tourists visiting Dong Hoi. Standing on the bridge, visitors can enjoy a panoramic view of the serene and beautiful city of Dong Hoi, with the winding Nhat Le River below, high-end resorts and even Nhat Le beach in the distance.
The sandy land of Bao Ninh, where people have thrived by the river and sea for generations, has now become a center for tourism in Quang Binh. This is due to the presence of numerous high-end hotels and world-class resorts, which have emerged since the construction of the Nhat Le Bridge. In 2016, a second bridge across Nhat Le River was built and named Nhat Le 2 bridge, which automatically made the previous Nhat Le bridge the Nhat Le 1 bridge. It is expected that in the future, another bridge will be constructed, called the Nhat Le Bridge 3. The Nhat Le Bridge has become a symbol of Dong Hoi city, adding to the beauty of this stunning coastal city.
Nhat Le River
Nhat Le River, located in Quang Binh province, is considered one of the most breathtaking rivers in Vietnam. With a length of 85 km, the river originates from the U Bo and Co Roi mountains in the Truong Son range and flows into the East Sea at Nhat Le estuary. The river consists of two main branches – Long Dai River (also known as Dai Giang) that flows through Quang Ninh district and Kien Giang river that flows through Le Thuy district, eventually meeting in Trung Quan. Nhat Le River has a wide river bed, crystal clear and gentle water, providing a source of water for daily life, production, and also tourism for the local community.
Nhat Le River is blessed with beautiful beauty by nature. The river is winding, the river water is clear blue, reflecting the sunlight sparkling like a soft silk strip. On both sides of the river are rows of green trees, creating a poetic and lyrical scene. Nhat Le River is not only a beautiful natural landscape but also associated with the history and culture of Quang Binh province. Historically, Nhat Le River is an important waterway, where many heroic historical battles of the nation took place.
Currently, Nhat Le River is a famous tourist destination of Quang Binh province. Visitors to Nhat Le River can visit and explore the beauty of the river, immerse themselves in beautiful nature, and enjoy moments of relaxation and peace while sitting by the river. Along the river is a park with rows of trees and stone benches, a suitable place to experience jogging, cycling or simply sitting on a stone bench to relax and rest.
If you have the opportunity to come to Quang Binh, you can combine sightseeing and exploring nearby tourist attractions such as Bao Ninh Peninsula, Nhat Le Beach, Dong Hoi Market, Quang Binh Quan, Ho Chi Minh Square, Me Suot Monument,... to have a more experienced and complete trip.
