In 2025, Thua Thien Hue Province was chosen to host the National Tourism Year. This is an opportunity for the tourism industry of the ancient capital to connect and make an impression, exploiting all potentials and advantages, contributing to promoting tourism development, becoming a spearhead economic sector of the province.

The National Tourism Year and Hue Festival 2025 are expected to be held at the end of March 2025 in Hue city, including 62 main programs and events, of which the highlight is the Opening Ceremony of the National Tourism Year combined with the Opening of the Hue Festival and the fireworks display to celebrate the 50th Liberation Day of Thua Thien-Hue.

According to Director of Thua Thien-Hue Department of Tourism Nguyen Van Phuc, National Tourism Year-Hue 2025 is a typical cultural-economic-social and tourism event of national and international scale combined with Hue Festival 2025, associated with the 50th anniversary of the liberation of Thua Thien-Hue homeland (March 26, 1975 - March 26, 2025) and other major celebrations of the country; responding to and welcoming Hue to become a city directly under the Central Government.

The event aims to introduce and promote tangible and intangible cultural values, resources and unique tourism products of Vietnam in general and Thua Thien-Hue province in particular; attract domestic and international tourists, create a breakthrough in tourism development, contributing to promoting the socio-economic development of the province.
National Tourism Year - Hue 2025 will strongly promote tourism development linkages between localities nationwide to promote strengths and potentials to develop tourism in the region as well as inter-regional tourism, contributing to enhancing the image, position and brand of Vietnam tourism in general and Thua Thien Hue in particular in the following years.

At the same time, attracting a large number of people, international and domestic tourists to visit and experience in Thua Thien-Hue province, creating a driving force to promote the development of other economic sectors and fields, creating a step of growth, comprehensive development of Thua Thien Hue tourism in terms of scale and quality of services, quantity and structure of tourists to ensure sustainability.

At the meeting between the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the People's Committee of Thua Thien-Hue province on preparations for the organization of the National Tourism Year 2025, Deputy Minister Ho An Phong emphasized the traditional values, antiquity, and long history of the ancient capital that have created the Hue tourism brand - a key point on the national tourism map.

Therefore, with rich tourism resources and a developed tourism infrastructure system, choosing Thua Thien-Hue as the host of the National Tourism Year 2025 is very appropriate.

According to Deputy Minister Ho An Phong, hosting the National Tourism Year 2025 needs to set higher goals for Thua Thien Hue, build more unique products, add more experience spaces for tourists, promote the promotion of tourism brands and attract tourists to Hue.

Appreciating Thua Thien-Hue's initiative in proposing to host the National Tourism Year 2025, Director of the Vietnam National Tourism Administration Nguyen Trung Khanh said that this is the second time Hue has hosted the National Tourism Year, after the first time in 2013.
The organization of the National Tourism Year has always brought positive impacts, creating remarkable growth for localities. Director Nguyen Trung Khanh suggested that the Thua Thien-Hue tourism industry needs to innovate in ideas, themes as well as activities organized in the National Tourism Year 2025.

Regarding the theme selection for the National Tourism Year 2025, Director Nguyen Trung Khanh suggested that the theme of the National Tourism Year 2025 be "Hue - the capital of creative culture" based on exploiting and honoring the cultural heritage values ​​that are the strengths of Hue tourism, while also being associated with innovation and creativity in the context of integration and development.
Standing Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Thua Thien-Hue Province Nguyen Thanh Binh said that, recognizing the important significance of organizing the National Tourism Year in 2025 for the locality, the provincial leaders had planned early and were determined to apply to host the National Tourism Year 2025.
Thua Thien-Hue Province will strive to successfully organize the event, creating highlights and impressions, exploiting all its potential and inherent advantages, contributing to promoting tourism development, making tourism truly become a spearhead economic sector of the province.
In the first 9 months of 2024, the number of visitors to Thua Thien-Hue is estimated at nearly 3.1 million, up 26.7% over the same period last year. Notably, international visitors are estimated at 996,300, up 33.6% over the same period last year. Among the top 10 markets for tourists to Hue, the most prominent are Taiwan (China), Thailand, the US, Malaysia, France, the UK, Australia, Germany, Spain, and South Korea./.
