Located on the Ho Chi Minh Highway West Branch, passing through Bo Trach District in Quang Binh, Tra Ang Bridge stands out in the midst of majestic mountains and forests. The bridge is not only an important traffic structure but also holds deep historical significance as a testament to the unwavering spirit of the Vietnamese people.

Tra Ang is the section of the 20-Quyet Thang Road from Km12 to Km14. It is a unique traffic route precariously perched on a 400-600m high mountain, overlooking the deep Tra Ang abyss.

From 1964 to 1972, this route endured relentless bombing by American planes, resulting in the destruction of the area's landscape. It was bombarded continuously for 87 days and nights, with some days seeing 27 B52s and 30 other planes dropping various types of bombs, including tropical plants used to receive and transmit sounds to report to the aircraft control center.

The deep underground of Tra Ang is where the legend of "Blood and Gasoline" echoes eternally. In 1968, facing a shortage of gasoline in the Southern battlefield, 29 transport soldiers stationed at this key point lost their lives while attempting to transport 30 barrels of gasoline across the Tra Ang stream, leaving a tragic mark on the location.

Tra Ang Bridge spans the stream from which it takes its name, set amidst a wild and awe-inspiring natural landscape. Despite the difficult terrain, the construction and protection of Tra Ang Bridge during the years of the war against the US encountered numerous challenges.

During the resistance war against the US, Tra Ang Bridge was a crucial target of the enemy and was continually destroyed by bombs and bullets. Nevertheless, it was promptly repaired and restored by the resilient Vietnamese people and soldiers. Tra Ang Bridge has become a symbol of the determination and resilience of the Vietnamese people.

In addition to its historical significance, Tra Ang Bridge also captivates tourists with the enchanting beauty of the surrounding mountains and forests. The bridge blends harmoniously with nature, offering visitors a picturesque landscape and a serene vantage point to admire the surrounding natural beauty.

Today, Tra Ang Bridge stands not only as an important traffic structure but also as an appealing tourist destination. Visitors to Tra Ang Bridge can immerse themselves in the beauty of nature while learning about the heroic history of the nation.

Tra Ang Bridge symbolizes the unwavering will and resilience of the Vietnamese people. If you have the opportunity to visit, don't miss this significant location!
