Hanoi in autumn is not only beautiful because of the rows of trees changing to yellow leaves but also because of the graceful ao dai on the streets. The 2024 Hanoi Ao Dai Tourism Festival, taking place from October 4 to 6 at the Thang Long Heritage Conservation Center, has brought a unique cultural space, honoring the traditional beauty of the nation. With the theme "Hanoi - The Quintessence of Ao Dai", the festival is like a vivid picture, recreating the image of Hanoi past and present through graceful Ao Dai.
The 2024 Hanoi Ao Dai Tourism Festival is one of a series of practical activities to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital (October 10, 1954 - October 10, 2024); it is an annual activity of the Department of Tourism to develop and promote Hanoi tourism as well as promote Vietnam tourism.
The event will have the participation of designers, Ao Dai brands, traditional craft villages, tourism businesses of Hanoi and localities with about 80 to 100 standard booths. Community experience activities, shopping incentives, and special art programs will take place throughout the Festival.
The opening ceremony will take place at 8:00 p.m. on June 4 at Doan Mon Square Stage - Thang Long - Hanoi Heritage Conservation Center and will be broadcast live on Hanoi Radio and Television. During the opening ceremony, there will be an art program "Ao Dai Quintessence", including 3 chapters: Golden History, Interchange Bridge and Spreading Journey. The art program combines tradition and modernity, with the atmosphere, emotions of discovery and experience; especially recreating the historical journey of 70 years of Liberation of the Capital with the image of Vietnamese Ao Dai as the main center.
The Ao Dai Carnival will take place on October 5, 2024 (Saturday) at the Thang Long Heritage Conservation Center - Hanoi and will parade along the route from Doan Mon Square, Thang Long Heritage Conservation Center - Hanoi - Hoang Dieu - Hoang Van Thu - Doc Lap - Thang Long Imperial Citadel.
In addition, within the framework of the program, there will be activities: Ao Dai Performance by Designers and the Final Round of the Ao Dai Design Competition; exhibition, display of Ao Dai by designers, Ao Dai brands; tourism products, services, traditional craft villages with about 80 - 100 standard booths. Along with that is the Ao Dai photo exhibition space with the main contents: Ao Dai past and present in Vietnamese culture; Ao Dai with international friends and tourists; Ao Dai in tourism activities, suppliers of Ao Dai materials, Ao Dai decoration accessories; Traditional Ao Dai and modern creations; famous Vietnamese Ao Dai brands and designers.
Notably, this year's Festival has a cultural and artistic space, the capital's artisans will perform traditional folk arts: Quan Ho, Ca Tru, Chau Van, Xam, Bai Bong dance, Bong dance, Hau Dong ... combined with Ao Dai performances. Through this activity, the Organizing Committee hopes to bring visitors new emotions about the beauty of Ao Dai in the ancient cultural and artistic space.
The 2024 Hanoi Tourism Ao Dai Festival has a space to enjoy Hanoi cuisine "Thang Long Ngu Vi" to introduce to people and tourists light dishes imbued with Hanoi.
In addition, Hanoi also organizes a series of response activities such as: Online organization challenge on the website and fanpage of the Hanoi Women's Union and attaching the Festival's hashtag on the fanpage of the Department of Tourism. Participants in the challenge will take photos in Ao Dai at tourist attractions, historical and cultural relics, scenic spots, etc. in Hanoi. There is no limit to the number of participants or their age. The organizers will award prizes to participants in this activity.
The "Ao Dai Design" contest is a very attractive activity in response to the Festival, taking place from August 6 to October 5, 2024, including 3 rounds. This contest is for young designers with a passion for Ao Dai design to find and encourage talents in the field of Ao Dai design. The organizers will have a City Bus activity "Quintessence of Ao Dai", free tickets for visitors wearing Ao Dai. "Ao Dai Month" (October 1 - 20, 2024) takes place throughout Hanoi.
Ao dai is considered a cultural symbol associated with the image of Vietnamese women, an impressive souvenir product for international tourists when coming to Vietnam and a source of creative inspiration for designers.
