Son River is a poetic river flowing from the mouth of Phong Nha cave, in Phong Nha Ke Bang national park, Quang Binh province. The river flows in the Northwest - Southeast direction, converging with the Gianh River in Ba Don town.

Son River is known for a wilderness and poetic beauty. The river curves softly around the limestone mountains, the river water is clear and cool. On both sides of the river are green, shady primeval forests. On the river, boats carry passengers to visit Phong Nha cave, Tien Son cave... creating an extremely peaceful and poetic scene.

Legend tells of the love story of a couple who loved each other dearly but were prevented by their families due to not being able to take care of each other. To prove their love, the boy and girl went to this river together to commit suicide. Moved by the faithful love, the people here named the river Son River.
